1.____ Review the six-year plan to check graduation requirements/Post-sec. Plans
2.____ Check six-semester transcript for accuracy-report corrections to counselor
3.____ Send “thank-you's” to admissions officers met with over summer
4.____ Register to take and/or repeat SAT I/ACT (if needed- SAT II/TOEFL)
5.____ Make sure to have your college tests sent from company to college
6.____ Narrow colleges to 10 or less(use resources- on-line, counselor, books, etc.
7.____ Familiarize yourself with admission requirements to selected colleges
8.____ Open or follow-up communication with colleges via e-mail
9.____ If filing early admissions, narrow to two top priority choices
10.___ Begin work on resume
11.___ Begin work on college essays
October
1.____ College list should be 5-7 universities
2.____ Repeat SAT I/II/ACT as needed (should be in Oct and Nov only!)
3.____ Double-check admission requirements and application deadlines
4.____ Download applications from web and begin completing
5.____ Request recommendations/transcripts at least two weeks before needed
6.____ Contact embassy to check app requirements specific to your country
7.____ Finalize one early admission school, complete app. and mail two to four weeks before deadline
November
1.____ Complete remaining applications and mail by 1-30 November
2.____ Take SAT/ACT, etc as needed
3.____ Complete and mail all American college apps before December 1 st
4.____ Include all materials-recommendations, transcripts, etc for apps.
5.____ Follow up by e-mail stating that app packet will be arriving
December
1.____ Keep on top of app status
2.____ For American federal financial aid use the FAFSA form- filed after Jan 1
3.____ Intern'l students - FSFAA
4.____ Mail later-deadline apps. – Canada, UK, Middle East
January
1.____ When accepted, make sure you respond to the college in a timely manner
2.____ Process I-20 form with American Embassy if US college bound (Int'l students)
3.____ Request housing package, if you don't get one
4.____ File your FAFSA(American) or FSFAA(international) form for fin. aid
5.____ Mail later applications
6.____When I-20 is received immediately visit the American Embassy to apply for
student visa (if international student)
February – June
1.____ Follow-up as needed on applications and admission/fin. aid status as needed
2.____ Don't be afraid to call the college if you have questions of any kind
3.____ If your country requires more than one diploma copy, let counselor know
4.____ Notify counselor of address to send final transcript
