Senior Style…

September

1. ____ Review the six-year plan to check graduation requirements/Post-sec. Plans/

2. ____ Check six-semester transcript for accuracy-report corrections to counselor

3. ____ Send “thank-you's” to admissions officers met with over summer

4. ____ Register to take and/or repeat SAT I/ACT (if needed- SAT II/TOEFL)

             Make sure to have your College tests sent from company to college

5. ____ Narrow colleges to 10 or less(use resources- on-line, counselor, books, etc.

6. ____ Familiarize yourself with admission requirements to selected colleges

7. ____ Open or follow-up communication with colleges via e-mail

8. ____ If filing early admissions, narrow to two top priority choices

9. ____ Begin work on resume

10____ Begin work on college essays

 

 

October

18____ College list should be 5-7 universities

19____ Repeat SAT I/II/ACT as needed (should be in Oct and Nov only!)

20____ Double-check admission requirements and application deadlines

21____ Download applications from web and begin completing

22____ Request recommendations, transcripts at least two weeks before needed

   _____Contact embassy to check app requirements specific to your country

23____ Finalize on one early admission school, complete app. and mail  two to four weeks before deadline

             

 

November    

23____ Complete remaining applications and mail by 1-30 November

   _____ Take SAT/ACT, etc as needed

    ____ Complete and mail all American college apps before December 1st

    ____ Include all materials-recommendations, transcripts, etc for apps.

24____ Follow up by e-mail stating that app packet will be arriving

 

December

25____ Keep on top of app status

             For American federal financial aid use the FAFSA form- filed after Jan 1

             Intern'l students - FSFAA

    ____ Mail later-deadline apps. – Canada, UK, Middle East

 

January

 

             When accepted, make sure you respond to the college in a timely manner

              Process I-20 form with American Embassy if US college bound

             

              Request housing package, if you don't get one

              File your FAFSA(American) or FSFAA(international) form for fin. Aid

           Mail later applications

 

 

26____ When I-20 is received immediately visit the American Embassy to apply for

              student visa (if international student)

 

February – June

 

     Follow-up as needed on applications and admission/fin. Aid  status as needed

     Don't be afraid to call the college if you have questions of any kind

     If your country requires more than one diploma copy, let counselor know

     Notify counselor of address to send final transcript
