BAHRAIN SCHOOL SCREENING
School Year – 2008/2009

Bahrain School is a member of the larger Department of Defense Dependent School System, operating in fourteen countries around the world.   Our mission is to provide a quality American education for students, grades Kindergarten through grade 12.  Established in the 1960’s, our school has a long history of academic excellence, preparing both DoDDS and international students to take their places as citizens of the world.  We offer students the option of completing either the American or International Baccalaureate Diplomas, ensuring the broadest range of options for them around the world after graduation.

This school system was established to educate American military dependents as their parents serve their country away from the US.  Bahrain School is unique in that many of our students are international in their origins.   This offers our students the opportunity to experience the finest in American education within a rich multicultural environment.   DoDDS refers to these students as “space available”(space A) students, meaning they are admitted if room permits.

Should you decide that you desire your student to join the proud tradition of Bahrain School, here are the steps to complete prior to testing:

Please bring the following items with you at least one week BEFORE your student tests:

  • Completed Bahrain School application.
  • Grades for the three previous years.  These should be in officially sealed envelopes from the former schools.
  • Original official stamped immunization records.  Parent or legal guardian will need to complete an interview with the nurse to review health history and immunization records.
  • BD 10 test fee.

Your student will need to appear for the Bahrain School placement test.  Test includes:  English, Math, and Arabic & ESL (as appropriate).  All above requested information MUST be completed before a prospective student can sit for the placement exam.  Remember - Space A students can only be admitted provided we have room to accommodate them.

Admission Determination:

  • Grades for the three previous years
  • Results from placement tests
  • Favorable behavior reports
  • Review of records/results by the placement committee

Your student will have three opportunities in the spring to sit for the placement exams and two opportunities just before school starts.  The tests can take up to three hours.  If you live in Bahrain, you MUST attend one of the spring test dates:
